In her work, Alena Ivochkina shows reality through the prism of imagination. As an artist, she tries to catch some moments or create some images that might look familiar but get some unexpected shapes. Alena tends to look for sophistication in simple images leaving space for intrigue. Usually her story behind is not what it appears to be. To create her works she often uses trivial materials and elements of surrealism and minimalism. Color, photography, and digital manipulation serve as helping tools for telling surprising visual stories.
Colorful mood
In the project, the main element is clothes, which sets the mood for me for the whole day. After all, clothes are not just a piece of fabric! It’s a way of communicating with the world. Color, shape, patterns and material — everything influences the choice. It’s like as if I am hiding into the thing I’m wearing, trying to disappear in a beautiful wrapper. My clothes convey the mood that I want to show the people around me, keeping back what I feel inside.
