Perfectio Quadratus

2025
Digital collage, AI-generated background

The project explores the loss of authenticity in a world where both nature and human beings are increasingly shaped to fit standards and idealized visual images. Advertising magazines, retouched social media photographs, and images generated by artificial intelligence create the impression that real life is dull and imperfect, and that a person never quite “measures up” to imagined ideals.

I transfer this experience into the realm of nature, where every element is unique and self-sufficient. In the work, I deliberately cut living flowers and leaves into randomly chosen geometric forms, stripping them of their natural organic qualities. The background, generated by artificial intelligence according to parameters I set for color and texture, reinforces the sense of artificiality. As a result, natural objects lose their vitality and turn into decorative signs that meet expectations while losing their authenticity.

The project raises a question: what do we lose when we attempt to “improve” everything around us—ourselves, our bodies, nature, and reality itself?
